StormMeister® Accoya Timber Flood Gates
StormMeister® Accoya Flood Gates are engineered using one of the most advanced modified timber available. Made from sustainable resources and treated by a patented acetylation process, Accoya timber offers exceptional resistance to weathering and decay.
With structural integrity superior to traditional hardwoods Accoya is guaranteed for 50 Years not to swell or warp. Ideal for the manufacture of flood gates, and with the additional benefit of coatings and colours lasting for up to twice as long as on conventional timbers. Where longevity and performance are essential, StormMeister Accoya flood gates are the natural choice.
Key Features & Benefits
- Flood Protection: On site experience has demonstrated flood protection way beyond industry standards and up to 1200 mm.
- Enhanced Durability: The acetylation process makes the timber highly water-resistant, rot-resistant, guaranteed 50 years not to warp or twist.
- User-Friendly Operation: Designed for easy, single-person use.
- Custom Configurations: Available in a variety of sizes and configurations, all gates are custom made to suit your requirements.
- Bespoke Finishes: Can be finished to a range of wood stains, coloured to your choice, or colour finished to match your existing colours. Treated with Remmer (Remmers.co.uk), our Accoya doors use a five-coat system including an end grain sealer to block the pores in the timber structure and prevent the wood from absorbing any water. This protects the timber and the paint. The topcoats are water-based UV resistant paint which is specifically formulated for our Accoya timber products. We use SW-900 Pre Primer (deluge) colourless so we can stain or colour, M-425 Weis ZW-425 Primer (in white, RAL 9016) or coloured to suit the top coat and DW-601 Aquastop Top Coat, Sheen level 35 is standard. Colours available are RAL Classic, Little Greene and Farrow and Ball.
- Ease of Access: Pedestrian or vehicle-access thresholds are available depending on your requirements. For wheelchair access we can provide a low threshold Part ‘M’ compliant threshold.
Technical Information
Accoya is widely recognised as the benchmark in the timber industry for its outstanding performance and sustainability. No other wood matches its unique combination of exceptional durability, dimensional stability, and versatility.
Sustainably sourced from fast-growing forests and with a low whole-life carbon footprint, Accoya supports a circular, bio-based economy and stands as one of the most genuinely sustainable building materials available today.
Using a precise, patented acetylation process, Accoya wood is transformed at a molecular level. By treating the timber with acetic anhydride under carefully controlled heat and pressure, the process replaces water-attracting hydroxyl groups with moisture-resistant acetyl groups. This advanced modification dramatically improves the wood’s resistance to moisture, swelling, and decay.
The result is an ultra-high-performance, highly stable timber that is ideal for demanding applications — including flood protection products, cladding, decking, windows, doors, and outdoor structures.
